Project Description
This European Union-funded food security program aims to reduce malnutrition and food insecurity in the Indian Ocean region, particularly among children aged 0-5 and pregnant women.
Objectives
The specific objectives of the project are to improve national and regional capacities for :
- agri-food production
- commercialization of commodity chains
- respect for phytosanitary standards
Also:
- Promote high-quality agricultural practices (economically sustainable agro-ecological intensification, resilient to the impacts of climate change and sensitive to nutrition, certified seeds, integrated pest control, etc.).
- Raising awareness and helping vulnerable populations diversify their diets
- Strengthening food safety and health security at regional level
- Improving information for governments on food and nutrition security in each country
