Project Description

The ExPLOI project, for Expédition Plastique Océan Indien (Indian Ocean Plastic Expedition), developed by the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), is an innovative 5-year project of regional scope. It lies at the crossroads of a number of economic, ecological and scientific issues of particular importance to the Indian Ocean region.
Objectives
In order to provide a comprehensive response to the problem of plastic pollution, this project will focus on 3 areas designed to help reduce and recycle plastic waste:
- Improving knowledge of the impacts of marine plastic pollution
- Environmental education and raising awareness of plastic pollution
- Development of a regional circular economy
