The fisheries sector provides thousands of jobs which represent a significant share of households below the poverty line. The sector, however, faces a double challenge of underdevelopment and scarcity of resources. The support of the World Bank has been secured to develop the fisheries sector and sustainably increase its contribution to poverty reduction and the economies of the countries concerned.
