Objectives<\/h3><\/div>

1. Renforce le soutien \u00e0 la coordination r\u00e9gionale dans le cadre de SWIOFish1 en ciblant la gestion du thon et des esp\u00e8ces apparent\u00e9es par le biais de la CTOI.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Support the participation of the countries of the South-West Indian Ocean <\/span>Fisheries Commission (SBSC) in the IOTC Forum<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Strengthen compliance with international fisheries obligations under the IOTC.<\/p>\n

4. Assist the IOTC in providing support and training to Member States for the <\/span>implementation of IOTC resolutions for the sustainable management of tuna <\/span>fisheries.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Activities<\/h3><\/div>
<\/div>
\n

1. Strengthening the capacity of the IOTC Secretariat with long\u2010term <\/span>technical\/administrative and support staff for implementation of the subcomponent;<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Carrying out sessions, intersessional meetings, and studies to inform the Working Parties <\/span>and Working Groups within the IOTC and to strengthen beneficiary countries\u2019 capacity on <\/span>compliance;<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Reinforcing compliance with the IOTC Resolutions in the beneficiary countries, including <\/span>financing compliance missions on CMMs, the delivery of workshops and training, the <\/span>development of guidelines and a compendium, the transposition of IOTC\u2019s Resolutions into <\/span>national legislation, the development of an information system, the creation of a logbook <\/span>system, and the promotion of awareness on the IOTC\u2019s processes and CMMs;<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Strengthening flag state performance of beneficiary countries through a better <\/span>understanding and implementation of their obligations; (e) strengthening the implementation <\/span>of port states of measures to fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing, <\/span>through the required administrative and operational support underpinning, delivery of <\/span>regional training for national interagency cooperation and regional cooperation, the <\/span>development and improvement of an electronic application and the training of coastal <\/span>countries in its use, and promotion of awareness and provision of legal support; and<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Strengthening the beneficiary countries\u2019 capacity for MCS of tuna and tuna\u2010like fisheries, <\/span>through the production of a best practices manual and related guidelines and technical <\/span>assistance for implementation of the newly adopted IOTC Resolutions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
